Our Committee Members
Glynn Williams, DTM – Convention Co-chair
I have been a toastmaster since 1986. At that time my presentation
skills were so poor I couldn't even present to 8 to 12 year olds in a church
program I was helping to facilitate. I have conquered my initial presentation
fears and moved into leadership roles within my club, area and division. I
always enjoy the fun, excitement and fellowship at Toastmaster Conferences and
Conventions so decided to take on this co-chair challenge.
Rick Lebeuf, ATMS-AL - Convention Co-chair
I have been a Toastmaster since June of '96. I belong to the
Downtowners Toastmasters Club which meets Wednesday's at noon. I've been on the
executive of the club for 10 of those years in one role or another. I've been an
area governor twice, District Chief Judge last year, Division F Contest Chair
and this year I'm Division D chief judge. I've made it all the way to ATMS/AL.
Both parents are French. Their families settled in Northern Alberta in the mid 1800's.
Wendy Lam, CTM – Convention Facilities Chair
I'm currently the VP Public Relations with the Riverbend
Toastmasters club. I've been with
the Toastmasters for approximately 3 years.
When I was approached to be the Facilities Chair for this big event, I
had mixed feelings, I was honored to be part of such an important event and yet
was not sure what to expect as I am still considerably new in the Toastmasters
community. However, everyone in the
committee is very supportive and I am sure to learn a lot from them.
Spring Convention 2008 is a must come.
It will be a blast! :)
Myrna Cretney, DTM - Convention Secretary / Treasurer Chair
I joined CU at Noon, Area 28, Division D in the fall of 2001 and
have enjoyed every minute, every AH and every presentation. I hopped on the 2008 Convention Committee because I was asked. Not
just asked, but asked by Glynn and Rick. I have known these 2 for a number of
years and well enough to know that anything that either of them gets involved in
will turn out to be a Great Success and a fun and exciting learning experience.
Imagine what they will do together. The District 42, 2008 Spring Convention in Edmonton will be everything that you could
ever want in a Convention. Come on out and see for yourself.
Bob Mann, CTM, CL – Convention Protocol Chair
I’m a charter member of the Edmonton Garrison club, having helped start
it up in 2003. I’m currently the VP Membership and Area Governor of Area 26. I’m
on the committee because I was asked. But beyond that, I get such enjoyment from
TM including the few conventions/conferences I’ve attended, that it feels good
to give something back. And what a great way to give something back to TM!
Jim Guloien, ATM-G, CL – Convention Education & Training Chair
By the time of the convention I will have been a charter member of
the Telecommunicators Toastmasters club (Area 28, Division D) for 20 years.
A self-professed Toastmaster lifer, in that time I have held every Club
Executive position more than once and had the honor of being an Area Governor 3
times.I have always been impressed with the quality of the District
42 Conferences / Conventions and I am amazed at the amount of organization that
is needed. I have never been involved with event planning on this scale
and so when I was asked to be a part of the committee, I jumped at the chance.
I’m very much looking forward to this learning experience. I chose Education & Training as I believe the educational
component is one of the most important aspects of the Convention and we
are planning some fantastic Educationals for the 2008 Convention. So come
out the 2008 District 42 Convention in
Edmonton
and in particular attend some of the Educationals. I guarantee you will go
home with some enlightening new found knowledge about communication and
leadership.
Michael J, Pucylo, ATM-S, CL, Convention Sponsorship Chair
I have been a member of Toastmasters International since October,
1993. During that time, I have
been an active member of my club and at the Area and Division levels.
I am currently the president of the Emma Collins Advanced Toastmasters
Club. During that time, I have had
the pleasure working with our Convention Co-Chairs, Glynn Williams and Rick
Lebeuf. As such, when they asked me
to join their team for the 2008 Spring Convention, I said yes.
The Sponsorship portfolio presents a challenge to me which I am looking
forward to. It will give me an
opportunity to promote Toastmasters to the community.
Terry Andriuk, DTM – Convention Registration Chair
I have been a member of Norwood Toastmasters since 1986 and like many other
convention committee members, I have held several Club Executives roles more
than once, including the President role, was involved in club rebuilding and was
Chairman of the District 42 Speakers Bureau.
I have also been fortunate enough to live and travel abroad and was a
member of Capalaba Toastmasters Club in Queensland, Australia.
I even attended a District Convention in Australia.I felt honored to be asked to work on this organizational team as I admire and
respect so many of the members of this committee having met and worked with them
over the years. I rarely miss
attending a convention or a conference and want to give back to this
organization in a new and exciting way.I am part of a conference organizing team at Grant MacEwan
College at the present
time and have insight into the value and importance of a strong registration
committee. I thoroughly enjoy
teamwork and meeting people. The
District 42 Spring Convention Registration Committee team will do the best they
can to make your convention experience as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
See you in the spring in Edmonton!
Kerrianne Koehler-Munro, CTM – Convention Publicity & Promotions Chair
I have been with Toastmasters for three and a half years and was a charter
member of the Riverbend Club. During
this time, I served on executive as VP Public Relations, VP Education and
presently as Riverbend’s President.
It took me a very short time to realize that Toastmasters was not only about
‘me’ and speaking, but also leadership.
My short Toastmasters experience has been very rewarding in all regards. This past summer I was asked to chair the Publicity and Promotions Committee for
the District 42 Spring 2008 Convention.
This presented an opportunity as well as a challenge for me.
But knowing that Mr. Glynn Williams and Monsieur Richard Lebeuf were
co-chair’s for the event, well let’s just say, I knew I could do this with these
two behind me.See you in Edmonton,
May 2-4, 2008!
Glenn Walker, DTM - Minute By Minute Man
I
have been a Toastmaster now for over 20 years. Over that time, I can honestly
say that I have missed possibly three conferences / conventions. That is even
more remarkable when you consider that I lived in the Northwest Territories for
2 years and still kept coming! You might be thinking "This guy is a Toastmaster
geek!" Well, you may be right, but the main thing that keeps me coming back to
these events is the fellowship and fun.
No matter where I have lived in District 42, I have always had friends close
by. I started in Saskatoon, but have also lived in Regina and now Edmonton. I
always look forward to conferences and conventions as a time to catch up with
old friends and share a laugh. I have been involved in organizing probably half
a dozen of these events and will always continue to lend a hand where I can.
See you in Edmonton for the convention. Bring lots of cash! I'll be out
piratin'!
Cheryl Kuzyk, DTM - Entertainment
Born and raised a Fun Speaker, I am currently a member of the Wild Rose TM Club. I have over 20 years of experience attending conventions and conferences, this has given me a wealth of knowledge for the position of the Entertainment Committee Chair. Having worked with Glynn before, I jumped at the opportunity to work on the convention committee.
My creative and dynamic committee's theme is "We are Here to Have Fun! No Computer Skills Necessary". I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!
