The Purple Cow concept is to take something from ordinary to remarkable.
(TM magazine article from October 2006 “Think
Purple Cow” and Seth Godin’s
book, “Purple Cow, Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable”) This idea
really hit home with Shelley because after eight years in Toastmasters Shelley
was idling and not making much of an impact to her personal development
in Toastmasters. Shelley was inspired to “Think Purple Cow” and to make
a difference, not only for herself, but to firm up her commitment to serve
others. Year nine has been Shelley’s most satisfying year to date in Toastmasters,
because of her interaction with the MVP Advanced Toastmaster members. These
members really encouraged and challenged Shelley to raise the bar in her
speaking and leadership development.
Because of this new commitment to Toastmasters, Shelley was ecstatic
to achieve DTM after being stuck for years at ATM-Silver. She works as a Draftsman
for Fluor Canada, and belongs to Fishcreek Bravehearts, Fluor Communicators,
MVP Advanced, and Big Rock Pioneer clubs! Shelley would like to visit China
because she has always wanted to experience the Great Wall.
